Skilled passive movements of a joint’s articular surfaces to increase joint mobility and decrease pain with movement. Mobilization with movement can also be done where the patient actively moves their involved joint while the therapist concurrently applies mobilization to the joint to increase range of motion and decrease pain with active movement.

All patients will be taught an individualized exercise program to specifically treat their injury or condition. Exercises will incorporate functional strengthening, stretching to increase mobility, balance, coordination, and endurance. Patients will also receive a home exercise program so they can continue with their therapy between sessions and after discharge to manage their injury and for injury prevention.

Gait dysfunctions are changes in your normal walking pattern, often related to injury or disease. Gait dysfunctions are among the most common causes of falls in older adults. Bristol Rehab Physical Therapists are experts at identifying the root causes of gait dysfunctions, and designing individualized treatments that restore gait.

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilizer (IASTM) is used to treat soft tissue dysfunction and myofascial restrictions. IASTM is used for common injuries such as tendinitis, ligament sprains, neck and back pain, post-surgical, and scar tissue.

 Acute and chronic injuries lead to muscular weakness and atrophy, resulting in movement compensations, poor body mechanics, poor balance, and postural dysfunction. Physical therapists at Bristol Rehab will identify and intervene such conditions and correct movement and postural impairments.
